Senior Move Management

"It helped us greatly"

After my husband and I decided to retire in Virginia, Heather of Emmy & Me Interiors; helped us sort through our possessions in preparation for the move. Although we were living in a three-bedroom house, our new home contained five bedrooms. It was not your classic case of "downsizing." However, there were many household items that would need to be eliminated. Heather was able to objectively suggest those items to be packed up for the move and offer ideas of what we might want to purchase for our new home. Heather orchestrated a garage sale to get rid of things we would not be moving to Virginia. She also helped take leftovers to charitable thrift stores. It helped us greatly not to pack up and pay the shipping of unwanted items.

With the aid of photos and room measurements we had taken while choosing the new residence, Heather also helped with color selections for the various rooms and drew floor plans for placing existing furniture. It was such valuable advice as we were unpacking the many cartons that accompanied us to our new home.

A year or so later, while Heather was vacationing in our area, she came to see the results of our move. What really was nice was her offer to make some special floral arrangements and make suggestions for furniture placement in an awkward area of the family room. She also rearranged the contents of the bookcases flanking the living room fireplace so they were more decorative than utilitarian (too much like a library with no pizzazz). These changes plus a few other ideas have given our home a special feeling.

We now have a custom feel to our new home by most effectively using what we had and focusing on a few special purchases. It saved us many unnecessary or costly decorating disasters. I could not have done it without Heather's expertise!!!
